The Prairie Hospice Society is a group of volunteers who are committed to enhancing the quality of life for those facing advancing illness, death, and bereavement. Our first two groups of volunteers have been matched with those in need. We provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered care for these individuals and their families in the comfort of their homes.
This Saskatchewan not-for-profit corporation provides a non-medical model that complements and augments existing services, including alternative heath care. The model we have implemented allows maximum flexibility in staff, healthcare practitioners, and volunteers.

Yoga for 50+Dates: Friday, January 11 to March 29, 2019 (12 classes) Cost: $180 for 12 classes Time: 10:00 am to 11:30 am Location: McFarland House – 716 Queen Street, use 8th Ave. door Class size: Restricted to 12 Program: Classes include gentle yoga postures using props, restorative (deep relaxation) practices, mindful movement, and breathing exercises. Students of all ages, sizes and abilities are welcome, even those who cannot get on the floor. You will leave classes feeling relaxed and energized, with tools to begin a home practice. About Lesley: Lesley has been teaching Yoga since 2002, and has been practicing since 1992. She received her Teacher Training Certificate from the Helen Duquette Yoga Studio in Ontario. Lesley continues to study Yoga and mindful movement practices with various teachers. Lesley’s Yoga practice and teaching is inspired by Vanda Scaravelli, who focused on using gravity and the wave-like movement of the breath to release the spine. Sunday Morning Insight Meditation Study Group
If you are interested in deepening your meditation practice and understanding of the Buddha’s teachings, we invite you to join us in a study and discussion of talks by esteemed and dedicated Buddhist teachers in the Insight Meditation tradition.
We meet Sunday mornings at McFarland House, 716 Queen Street, in Saskatoon, SK, from 10 to 11 am, for 30 minutes of meditation followed by 30 minutes of sharing ideas generated by an audio talk we listened to in the previous week. The session is facilitated by one of the six members of the guiding collaborative. We round out the morning with conversation and tea. It’s a time for us to get to know each other and share on another level.
This group is an off-shoot of the Prairie Insight Meditation Community, founded and led by Jennifer Keane from 2007 to 2015. We are grateful for the clear path she left for us.
